Embracing 2024 with Light: The Skytower's Inspiration

In this first post, I invite you to join me in a celebration that has brightened my New Years for two decades - the New Year's fireworks display at Auckland's Skytower. Every year, as the clock strikes midnight, the Skytower in Auckland becomes a pillar of shared wonder with a symphony of fireworks ushering in the New Year.

My work "Skytower" draws its inspiration from this iconic fireworks display - an event that, year after year, gathers people from all walks of life to share in a moment of community. The tower stands tall in my painting, set against a deep backdrop, a beacon of light that slices through the dark. It is a visual echo of how, no matter where we come from, we stand together, eyes turned upward, as the sky becomes a canvas for our hopes.
